Cabin Fever

First off, Korbin looked so cute in his overalls last Friday... had to post a picture of that! haha

The Weekend:

Saturday morning - Teacher Job Fair for Austin ISD
It was packed (took me 20 minutes to park). Only 4 Art jobs available at the fair. While I was in line to turn in my resume at one of the schools I met 3 other Art Teachers! 2 of which had at least 5 years experience. Crap. The other one was a real pain in the ass "I am better than you" person. She wouldn't shut up about herself. At one point she rudely looked me up and down... $#@%^&! Geez. One thing I did learn from her is how unprepared I am compared to the other candidates. She had everything organized in a binder from lesson plan ideas (also new to teaching) to samples of her art work. So, even though I felt discouraged I learned a lot and know that I will be better prepared when the time comes for an interview!

We started packing our bags for our overnight visit to Pat & Denise's cabin. Korbin ran around the house and helped us clean up the laundry on the floor (his idea) and give the cats kisses (always his idea). He loves to help clean up, especially putting the laundry in the laundry basket. He gets upset if we don't let him (like if we plan to wear it again or it's clean).

Saturday Afternoon - Off to the Pat & Denise's cabin
The cabin is very cute. It was much larger and more comfortable than the photos led us to believe. We enjoyed a nice dinner, watching Korbin play with his toys and the bubbles (he blew a few himself). We also made a quick trip down to the cove of Lake Whitney. Korbin put his feet in the water... and later his butt, too. We put him in his PJ's and off to bed around 9pm (he normally goes to bed at 7:30pm). We hung out in the living room and chatted for a few hours before we all headed to bed, too... that's when the fun part began. We were in THE bedroom in the one bedroom cabin. The other 4 adults were either in the loft or on the couch. Korbin woke up at midnight and screamed and cried for 5 freaken hours (it was a wonderful combination of crying, whining and yelling). We tried everything short of having him sleep on the back porch! Ryan and I got a total of 2 hours of sleep. Korbin having a cute face is what saved his life that night...

Ryan and Pat made breakfast. Each pancake was handled individually to ensure perfection (Ryan can't make more than one pancake at a time). Korbin took an hour long nap (geez... why was he tired?!) before we hit the road around 11:30am.

Then Korbin cried for about half of the 2 hour car ride home (it was a tired cry).

Sunday Afternoon - Back home!
Finally, we arrived back at our apartment around 2:30pm on Sunday. We enjoyed a 1.5 hour nap (much needed) and an easy dinner (Ryan ran out to get some Quiznos).

Unfortunately, Korbin threw up his dinner (because he was playing around not because he was sick) while Ryan was off in the bathroom. Got to clean that up before we gave him a bath and put him to bed! Woohoo!!!

Whew. Glad it's over.

Definitely a first Mother's Day worth remembering! ;)

Niiiice - screaming children are always fun :D - one thing I don't look forward to! But I'm sure once you receive a sweet hug or a cute smile it all melts away :D

Love the overalls!

Sounds like you had your hands full that weekend! Glad to hear that you enjoyed your first mother's day. Screaming children.....where do they learn it from?
