Money Pit

We terminated the contract on the house (that we were going to rent from my mother). Every inspection spotlighted another major issue with the house. The list was getting longer and longer and we were no longer comfortable fixing it up. It's a great house, and we wish it would have worked out. Oh well. Something else will come along.

On Friday I had two more interviews (new ones). One was for a free-lance position as an Art Director for 3 bi-annual bridal magazines. We met for lunch at Shady Grove and she pretty much offered me the job on the spot. Then, I went to my other interview at 6pm at a sign shop. She was also very impressed with my portfolio and asked if I would come in for a second interview next week. The sign shop job is a full-time salaried position. Awesome. It's a laid-back jeans wearing place. My favorite! haha (I have another interview lined up for Tuesday afternoon. It's an Art Teacher position for a private school on Saturdays...)

So, now I have to make a decision. The sign shop job is something I know I can do (and want to accept that job) the free-lance position is something I'd love to do on the side (magazine layout is one of my favorite projects). So, I think I might do both. I could make some extra money that will help us save up for another adoption. And, if after one publication deadline I decide it's too much, I can always just not sign another contract for the next issue. It'll be a lot of work... but it'll help us reach our goal faster. Hmmmm....

This past weekend we went up to Pat & Denise's cabin. They rented a pontoon boat for the afternoon. We drove around Lake Whitney and jumped in for a quick swim. Korbin impressed all of us with his kicking in the water. He enjoyed floating around with is life jacket on and splashing everyone. Korbin also enjoyed driving the boat (as long as we were making right turns! haha).

That night we watched Michael Phelps earn his last gold medal for the 2008 Olympics. It was an exciting relay. What an amazing athlete!

And then... another sleepless night at the cabin. Korbin kept us up till about 5am when we finally pulled the pack-n-play into the bathroom and shut the door. We pointed a fan on him (he was hot) for some white-noise and then finally fell asleep. Whew... just before the sunrise!

Yikes - that stinks! Though, it's a good that ya'll are making this decision now before it got too late. Keep looking - something will turn up!

Sorry about the house, but you're right, a new one will show up.

I'm so glad you have all these options available for you for a job! Good luck picking one.
