FRUA (Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoptions) www.frua.orgRyan, Korbin and I went to our first FRUA event today. It was a picnic in NW Austin for the Austin chapter of the national organization.
It was awesome! We talked to many other parents with similar experiences. They listened to our stories (and not with the glazed over look that we get from some people), but with a true understanding and compasion. They told us their story in return and then we'd compare our challenges that we currently face.
Many parents had great advice for us and assured us that we aren't alone. Everyone was so nice and there were many children in Korbin's age range. We will definelty stay active in this group. We know that Korbin will appreciate having other adopted friends from the same area of the world as he gets older. (Many parents and older kids thought he was adopted from Khazekstan!).
