School of Rock

We did it. We finally found a new "school" for our little man, Korbin. Whew.

I am so relieved. We checked out two places on Friday evening. The first one was one of those daycare chains. Everything was the same as the other places... it seemed nice... we were probably going to go with it. Then, we drove up to the second appointment (just 3 minutes down the road from the first one). We didn't even want to go inside. The outside of the building is less than impressive. We decided to go in anyway, since we were there and we wanted something to compare the first place to. Well, thankfully we did. It's so cute! Once you walk through the 7 foot wooden privacy fence you are overwhelmed with the charm of this little Montessori school. The inside of the fence was painted purple with stars all over it. From the large deck hung several wind chimes and decorations. The playgrounds were large with lots of trees for shade. The school is a converted house. It feels homey and comfortable (of course, since it used to be a home!). According to the tour, it's a wonderful place of learning! We loved it. We can't wait for Korbin to start! And, to sweeten the deal - the price is right (better than right!!!).

Life is going pretty well for us right now. We are still enjoying our jobs. Ryan is expecting his one-year evaluation pretty soon (gosh, I can't believe it's already been a year!). I am getting lots of compliments at work and am given special assignments from the higher-ups because they "want it to look good". I guess I can't complain. My direct boss has asked my advice on things many times (and usually goes with my ideas). It feels pretty good.

Korbin is doing great. He is pronouncing words better each day. Everyone at his daycare says that he is "so sweet". He still seems to be pretty shy and gets along with the other kids. I think he tends to not play with the bigger kids... he finds his own activities.

We just had my sister and her family over for dinner and a photo shoot. Aiden turned one on January 20th! He's walking (a little) and loves peek-a-boo. (I've never seen a kid tear into a cake like that!!! It was hillarious! He destroyed the cake in about 2 minutes!)

I bought some Girl Scout cookies to mail to my brother over in Iraq. I found out from Beth that he likes all the same flavors that I like (and hates the ones I hate). Funny. Scott and I like the same music, too. Anyway, I hope he enjoys the cookies! Tomorrow we are driving up to visit Beth, Katrina and Paige. I can't wait to see them! :) It feels like forever since we saw them last (we were just there last weekend!).

It's wonderful you found a good school for Korbin. I'm sure it makes you feel good. Congratulations. Good photos too. Did you send some to John and Granny?
Love, Mom xoxo
