Thirst

There has been so much going on lately that I have not been able to maintain my previous blogger pace. The days when I would have time to post Korbin's life at least once a week are now a fond memory of a simpler life. Almost a year ago, before I had my job at the newspaper, I felt that his 4 hour nap period was perfect for catching up on emails, cleaning up the apartment and posting a blog with all the photos I had taken that week. Those were the days. And, I am so grateful for that time. I have so many wonderful photos, videos and blog postings to help me relive those wonderful times in Korbin's life. I have video of his first step, his adorable baby laugh and spouting off his first few words. I have photos recording his growth and life. I always wondered why parents have albums and albums of baby photos. Don't they get tired of looking at them? Nope. I have 4 albums, so far, of Korbin. I wish I had more. OK, maybe not more, but I love looking at all of them. They trigger wonderful memories and spark great conversations and story-telling opportunities.

One of the reasons I am happy I don't have "more" albums is because they are heavy and I am moving! Next weekend I am moving into a little 2 bedroom apartment just down the street from Korbin's school and Ryan's apartment. I'll be much closer to work, too. I am looking forward to living in a great location and simplifying my life. So far I've made huge piles of "for sale" and "give-aways". We had a garage sale a few weeks back that had a fabulous turn-out. It felt so good to get rid of so much stuff!

Korbin is doing great, by the way. I talked to him on the phone the other day. He is communicating soooo well! He told me about his day, his booboo on his head and that he had grapes for lunch (I'm sure that's not all he ate). He told me that he uses the potty and has big shoes (the new shoes that Ryan bought for him). He's such a happy little boy and I miss him when he's not around. In two weeks, Korbin turns 3! I can't believe it. I have a 3 year old! Geez!

Two weeks from now is also our 2 year post-placement review with the social worker. It is our last post-placement review. Gosh, time flies.

I was looking at Russia photos the other day. Gosh, I would love to go back there! Right now! It's so beautiful! The food was great, the air was so fresh, the people were so nice (except for the hotel receptionists) and it was such an interesting place. I would love to go with someone who was adopting! That would be incredible.

These past few weeks Korbin has been so busy visiting family. My mother, Nonna, was in town for a few days. He really enjoyed his time with Nonna. They played, read books and had a good time. This month, Korbin also went out to his grandparent's cabin to celebrate his Gramma's birthday.

It's been a busy month. Guests, activities and me moving. Whew. Plus, it's been over 100F every day. It really does drain you!
