Korbin and Ryan recently flew "two airplanes" up to Ohio for a Burke wedding. Ryan's cousin was getting married (Congrats to Blair and Joe!). Korbin had a wonderful time and entertained the masses, like usual. He has been telling me about it for a few days now. His language skills are improving every day! It's amazing what comes out of his mouth!
Last night, Korbin and I had dinner with one of my co-workers and some of her friends & family. This co-worker of mine is deaf and invited me to practice my sign at dinner. Nervous, I must admit, but eager to learn, Korbin and I met up with 5 deaf/hearing impaired persons and my friend who is fluent in ASL. I surprised myself at how much I understood. I had so much fun and Korbin loved all the attention. At one point Korbin got upset and started crying. It wasn't as embaressing as you would expect since only one person at the table could hear it! :)
One of the ladies at dinner told me that she used to live in Denton. I said "me, too". Then, she said she actually lived in Providence Village..."me, too!". She moved out there in 2004 - "me, too" and moved down to Austin about 2 years ago. They lived on the other side of Fishtrap in a DR Horton home. Small world! haha.
Korbin had a great time today at the "water park" (Brushy Creek Park that has a fun water feature for kids). Afterward, we tried on some big boy underpantsand sat on the little toilet a few times (no results, yet). He thinks it is fun. When he wakes up from his nap I will put the underpants back on him and see if he'll go in the toilet today. I think he is ready.. since he took off his diaper earlier and tried to put on a new one himself!
Like I mentioned above, his language skills are the most noticable difference in our little man these days. Every day he surprises me with words that I didn't even think he knew! It's awesome. Here are a few things you might expect to hear:
"I want to see it", "Mommy, turn here", "I want to eat there (pointing at a fast food place)", "I flew on two airplanes", "Daddy has two cats and Mommy has no cats", "I want to wear my sandal shoes", "That's my bath tub", "Is Aiden coming?", "I want to touch it", "I did it!" (my favorite), I got Mommy wet!" (today at the water park)...

I do believe it is pronounced "sandal shOOOesh". I love his "sh" sound instead of "s" at the end of words. He is growing up so fast.
