And the adventure begins....

Tomorrow we begin our journey to parenthood. For most parents this isn't an actual "journey", but for us it requires several trips across the world. We sent in all our paperwork in March of 2007 to adopt a "as healthy as possible" little Russian baby. And now, June 11th, 2007 I prepare my luggage for my first trip to the country. I am flying alone for this trip. It's only a 5 day adventure - covering over 10,000 miles. I am hand delivering paperwork to a region director in northern Russia. They say this will put us on the top of the list and give the process a little jump start! We hope to be making a trip very soon to meet our son/daughter. :)

Adoption is an amazing journey. We have gone through so many emotions up to this point, and know that we are about to experience more! We are grateful that we have the ability to care for a child that would otherwise not have a family and home. And, we are grateful that we are going to care for a child that has already been born to this earth, versus adding another one. Actually, we did not explore all of our avenues before we made the adoption decision. We knew it would be a wonderful thing, for us and the child. Hopefully, we will have more adoption stories to share in the future.

Now, I must finish packing for my trip. It's very exciting!
